The Scarborough Doctors' Co-Operative

The Filey Surgery joins together with 50 or so local GPs to offer a high standard emergency out of hours service.

Where is the Co-Op?

Who is there?

First, you may well meet the Receptionists. These helpful ladies have a difficult job to do, and may well ask you a few administrative questions, and a few further questions to help them clarify how urgently you require assistance.

We have a team of skilled drivers who take us on Home Visits, should we decide these are necessary.

We work closely with our colleagues in the District Nursing team, Midwives, the Ambulances, Community Mental Health Teams, Social Workers, the Police and the Hospitals to help you deal with Emergencies that cannot be left till when the Surgery next opens.

Where it is

The Co-Operative is based in the daytime Fracture Clinic in Scarborough Hospital.

  • From Filey, drive North into Scarborough.

  • Straight on till 3rd set of traffic-lights (not counting Pelican Crossing lights).

  • At Town Centre, turn left (between Railway Station and Stephen Joseph Theatre).

  • Straight on through two sets of lights.

  • At Crown Tavern mini round about, turn right (sign posted Whitby)

  • Straight on at mini roundabout; turn left at traffic lights into woodlands Drive

  • Hospital main entrance 500 metres on right.

  • Follow signs to Accident & Emergency. Go past main A&E entrance on left to door around corner, and follow corridor to Doctors' Co-Operative/ Fracture Clinic

When is a Doctors' Out of Hours Visit necessary?

Click here to see the North Staffordshire Home Visit rules we generally work to decide whether a Home Visit is necessary.

The Government has decided that the NHS cannot provide transport to GPs' Out of Hours Co-Operatives, nor can the NHS be responsible for child-care of other children should you be offered an Out of Hours Consultation at the Co-Op.

TRANSPORT TO and FROM the CO-OPERATIVE IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ARRANGE.

LACK OF TRANSPORT and CHILD-CARE PROBLEMS CAN NEVER BE A REASON TO SEEK A DOCTOR'S HOME VISIT
